About PlugFacts
PlugFacts answers three everyday questions about the things you plug in: how much power does it use, what does it cost to run where I live, and what can power it?
The answers are usually scattered across spec sheets, energy labels, forum threads and articles written to sell you something. We put them in one place, show the number first, and let you change it to match your own appliance and your own electricity price.
What makes it different
- Official data. Appliance figures come from government product databases such as the U.S. EPA's ENERGY STAR data sets, and from manufacturer specification sheets. Electricity prices come from official statistics, such as Eurostat, Ofgem and the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
- Sources on every page. Every figure links to where it came from, with the date we last checked it.
- Your country, your price. Costs use your currency and your electricity price, for any country.
- Nothing to sell. We don't make or sell appliances, generators or power stations.
Who runs PlugFacts
PlugFacts is built and maintained by Karan S., who looks after the site, its data and its calculators. If you spot something that looks wrong, get in touch: every report is checked against the original source.
How we make money
PlugFacts may show advertising, and some links may be affiliate links, which means we can earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Advertisers and shops have no say in the numbers we publish.
